Applied Verbal De-escalation Tactics

Course Details

This course equips participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize, understand and effectively respond to crises. Topics include the causes and stages of a crisis, physical and psychological responses, and techniques for de-escalation.

Participants learn to apply active listening skills, build rapport and use influence to promote behavioral change. Course content focuses on proven, effective strategies for law enforcement professionals.

Cost: Free. This course is funded through the Department of Justice (DOJ) Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) Office.
