Course Details
This course covers a wide variety of topics concerning domestic violence investigations. It improves law enforcement officers’ response to and prosecution of domestic violence cases.
This comprehensive course provides an in-depth exploration of domestic violence, including its legal definitions, dynamics and the investigative procedures used in these cases. Topics covered include stalking, strangulation, lethality assessments and community resources.
Participants will:
- Examine Tennessee state law
- Understand the dynamics of domestic violence
- Learn patrol and investigative responses
- Identify resources for domestic violence investigations.
Cost: This class is free to all Tennessee law enforcement officers through the Tennessee Office of Criminal Justice Programs (OCJP) STOP grant.
Hours: 32, POST-approved
