Course Details
This introductory-level course teaches crime scene investigation techniques. Participants gain access to forensic evidence identification, documentation, collection and preservation procedures.
The course combines facilitated learning and lectures with mock crime scenes and provides a safe, effective training environment for crime scene personnel. Classes are facilitated by National Forensic Academy instructors.
Participants receive the following hands-on training and more:
- DNA evidence
- Fingerprinting
- Field presumptive testing
- Photography
- Evidence collection and packaging
- Fundamentals of shooting the scene,
- Documentation
- Crime scene sketching
Who should register:
- Sworn and non-sworn crime scene investigators.
- Technicians.
- Participants must be employed by a law enforcement or forensic organization.
Cost: This class is free to all Tennessee law enforcement officers through the Tennessee Office of Criminal Justice Programs (OCJP) Violent Crime Intervention Fund.
