Public Information Officer Essentials

Course Details

This course is an intensive three-day program for entry-level public information officers, or senior and leadership staff who interact with the media. 

The training provides participants with the fundamental skills and knowledge needed to handle public information during emergencies, crises and challenging situations. Students gain skills in ensuring effective communication and maintaining public trust. It also provides an awareness of the tools needed for daily management of media issues.

Class time will include lectures, group projects, table-top exercises, a final group presentation and graduation.

  • Managing local and national media stories
