Shooting Scene Reconstruction

SHOOTING SCENE RECONSTRUCTION

This five day course will teach both sworn and non-sworn investigators how to utilize scientific reasoning for incident reconstruction.  Participants will have structured instruction with hands-on applications for the following concepts:

  • Review of basic SIR concepts
  • Advances in ammunition
  • Review of bloodstain pattern analysis
  • Methodology and requirements of a shooting reconstruction
  • Human body as a target
  • Survivability and movement
  • Writing the reconstruction report
  • Presentation of findings at trial
  • Group processing of a motor vehicle shooting case
  • Group study of an actual shooting case
