National Forensic Academy: Collegiate Program

About the Program

The National Forensic Academy partners with the University of Tennessee at Martin to offer an in-residence, three-week collegiate program for criminal justice undergraduate and graduate students. Participants receive nine hours of undergraduate credit upon completing the program.  

The goals of the program are to: 

  • Prepare students for a career in the criminal justice field. 
  • Increase knowledge of forensic science. 
  • Provide hands-on experience through practical exercises and real-life crime scene scenarios. 
  • Offer exposure and instruction from nationally recognized subject matter experts.
  • Mirror the award winning 10-week in-residence National Forensic Academy offered to professional law enforcement personnel.


Pre-requisites 

Students must be criminal justice majors or approved for registration by the instructor of record.

A collegiate NFA student conducts latent fingerprint analysis in a lab.

  • Digital Photography 
  • Latent Fingerprint Processing 
  • DNA for the Crime Scene Investigator 
  • Crime Scene Mapping 
  • Forensic Anthropology 
  • Shooting Incident Reconstruction 
  • Bloodstain Pattern Analysis

Facilities

Our facilities provide a comprehensive learning environment for students. They include:

  • A smart classroom
  • Multi-station laboratory
  • Photography room
  • Experiment room
  • Outdoor boneyard
  • Additional outdoor facilities

Tuition

Total cost: $4,800 

This includes tuition, curriculum, housing in fully furnished apartments, training materials and equipment use.

Students are responsible for their transportation, meals and uniforms.
